Attached or detached garages

Garage alarm systems: know the moment someone’s in.

A garage alarm can be a siren on the spot, an alert on your phone, or a long-range sensor for a garage with no power or WiFi.

Which garage alarm fits

It comes down to what you want to happen, then power and WiFi in the garage.

You want to scare them off

A standalone battery siren goes up inside the garage and sounds as soon as it senses movement. It needs no wiring, no phone and no monthly fee, which makes it the simplest deterrent.

You want a phone alert, and power and WiFi reach the garage

A smart motion or door sensor pushes an alert to your phone as soon as it trips. We set it up to cut out false alarms, so you keep it switched on.

You want a phone alert, and there is power but no WiFi

Get the garage connected first, then add a phone-alerting sensor. Shed WiFi can help.

You want a phone alert, and there is no power and no WiFi

A long-range (LoRa) battery sensor lasts months on one battery. It sends the alert by radio to a small hub at the house, which passes it on to your phone.

You want to see what is happening

Live cameras go a step further than an alert. Smart Home Fix can help.

The 30-second chooser on the home page asks the same questions one at a time.

How the alert reaches you

The sensor trips

Someone opens the door or moves inside, and the motion or door sensor sees it straight away.

The alert travels

It goes out over the garage WiFi or, from a long-range sensor, over its own radio link to the house.

Your phone lights up

The push alert reaches you wherever you are, so you hear about it as it happens.

Garage alarm questions, answered

What is the best alarm for a garage?

The one that matches what you want to happen. A standalone siren is the simplest deterrent. For an alert on your phone, the right sensor depends on whether power and WiFi reach the garage.

Does a detached garage need a different alarm?

Not for a siren: a standalone battery siren needs no wiring and no phone. For a phone alert, it depends on what reaches the garage. With power but no WiFi, Shed WiFi can get WiFi out to it first. With neither, the long-range battery sensor does the job, because its alert travels by radio to a hub at the house.

Can a garage alarm alert my phone when I am away?

Yes, with the smart and long-range options: the alert goes to your phone the moment a sensor trips. They message you directly and carry no monthly monitoring fee. We can also suggest a monitored or camera setup. A standalone siren only sounds on the spot.

Can you fit the garage alarm for me?

Yes. Alien IT, the team behind Shed Alarm, supplies and fits garage alarms Australia-wide and sets them up so the alerts reach your phone. Call 02 9707 0999.
